Arbol Christian Communications is a non-profit organization dedicated to spreading the Gospel message throughout Ecuador and Latin America through Spanish language media, and supplying technical assistance and support to Christian missionaries, artists and ministries in Ecuador.

History of Arbol

Arbol Christian Communications was founded in 1996 by California native Bob Vogel, with the vision of enabling funding for missionaries, Christian radio and other missionary activities. However, Arbol Records in Quito has a longer history.

Upon moving to Ecuador in 1991 with his wife Zulay, an Ecuadorian citizen, Bob felt impressed of the Lord to found a music ministry. The first manifestation of this vision was the building of a recording studio in Quito.

Although he knew of no Christian artists or musicians at the time, Bob proceeded through the design and construction phases of the studios with perseverance and blind faith. One day, with the studios near completion, a very talented Christian artist from Oruro, Bolivia named Orlando Castro showed up at Arbol with a desire to record. Orlando now has three albums recorded in Arbol's studios, being sold in over a dozen countries in Latin America.

Since then our list of groups and artists has been growing steadily as God has been faithful to send us musicians from all over the Americas, including the United States. Today Arbol has expanded into other areas including digital recording, tape duplication, video production and international distribution. The prophet Isaiah said in 61:11, "The Lord shall cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all nations." We here at Arbol feel that the Lord has commissioned us and our supporters as instruments in the realization of this prophesy.

We believe in:

• The divine inspiration of the Bible which is inerrant in the original writings; and that it is of supreme and final authority in faith and practice.
• One God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
• God's creation of man in the divine image, man's subsequent fall through sin, resulting in universal guilt and total depravity, and the necessity, therefore, of redemption and restoration.
• The deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, perfect life, redeeming death, bodily resurrection, heavenly intercession and personal return.
• The personality of the Holy Spirit by whose regenerative work sinful man is born again and by whose indwelling man is enabled to live a godly life.
• The bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust; the everlasting glory of the saved and the everlasting punishment of the lost.
• The spiritual unity of all believers as comprising the true Church, which has the duty and privilege to preach the Gospel to every individual.

Musical philosophy

We believe that God is the Creator of all things, including music in all its diverse styles and expressions. We believe that Christian music, in any genre or rhythm, is a powerful tool, not only for the praise and worship of our Lord, but also for the exhortation and encouragement of the Church and for evangelism.

Mission opportunities

• Recording Engineer: Cuenca-Arbol urgently needs a recording engineer for a brand new studio we built in Cuenca. Cuenca is a beautiful small city in the south of Ecuador, with a growing number of Christians. This is the first and only Christian recording studio in the whole south of the country. The position requires knowledge and experience in music recording studios and will entail recording, mixing, editing and mastering. The work will include both Christian and secular recordings, in a wide variety of styles. This can be a short or long term position, from 3 months up. Arbol has a small apartment over the recording studio available for free housing. Some Spanish language ability is necessary.
  
  
• International Sales/Marketing: Quito-Help us promote and sell Christian music in Spanish! Knowledge and experience in this area, applicable degree suggested. Some Spanish language ability is necessary.
  
  
• Video Producer: Quito-To produce Christian music videos in Spanish, documentary programs and informational videos. Should have some experience in video/film production, script writing, editing, digital editing, set design and lighting. This is a fun position for a creative person. We have a video studio with editing suite, set, cyclorama, lighting, camera, etc.
  
  
• Arranger: Quito-Musical arranger who can work in a variety of styles, compose and arrange Spanish Christian music, be part of our studio team. Must be familiar with MIDI, Performer Mac sequencer, synthisizers, samplers, etc.
  
  
• Graphic Artist: Quito-Work in our art department and be responsible for layout and design of CD and cassette covers, posters, design and maintenance of WWW site, etc. Should have a working knowledge of Macintosh computers and related programs: Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Quark Xpress, HTML.
  
  
• Radio Technician: Quito-Help set up FM radio station, train local staff, purchase equipment, design programming, etc. Also help calibrate recording and tape duplication systems.
  
  
• Accountant/Financial Analyst: Quito-Knowledge and experience in this area, applicable degree suggested.
  

These are all non-salary positions which require the raising of one's own support. Also, since the positions we are looking to fill are for the glory of the Lord, the applicant should share our vision and beliefs.
